In 1843 rural NSW had its fair share of Bushranger violence, akin to the violent times in America’s wild west. But when a wife and her lover brutally murdered a man in his sleep, it sparked an outrage. Lucretia Dunkley and Martin Beech killed her husband Henry in bed, with an axe. They buried his body in a shallow grave on their farm, then sat down to a hearty breakfast of tea, bread, bacon and eggs.
