On an October night in 1931, a baggage handler on the Golden State Limited from Phoenix to Los Angeles noticed a bad smell protruding from two black trunks, with blood seeping from the bottom. At first, he assumed that someone was transporting deer meat interstate, but he was mistaken… The black travel trunks contained something far more sinister. And the elegant female passenger in the brown dress suit who had brought the trunks onto the train, had a lot to answer for…
